Hi guys! Just wanted to pop on and say a quick hello and give you all a little update too! I've been getting lots of sun, there's a great beach 'Glenelg' only a half hour away from me! I ventured there yesterday for the first time and then again today with my new friends! Yes, I think I have some bona fide friends, or at least some lovely acquantances who invite me places! Either way, I'm feeling pretty grateful.
I went to the denim housewarming party last night and had an absolute blast! The walk was there was an eerily quiet one but, I'm coming to realize that's just the nature of my neighborhood. The quiet, suburban nights should comfort me but instead they put me on edge. I miss living downtown, in the heart of the city, action and people around 24/7, somehow all that hustle and bustle makes me feel safer and more at ease than the all-consuming silence and darkness that is here in 'Malvern' (a suburb of Adelaide, 15 minutes from the city, this is where I live).
Anywho, I met lots of really cool people and exchanged many numbers. One girl is seeing if she can get me a job bartending at the club she works at ($25/hour!!!!) and another guy is the head of university parties and society (what a job title!!!) and has promised to keep me in the know of all upcoming social events.
I'm feeling tired, the sun has sapped most of my energy and I've also been working hard on a proposal for a summer research program at Ryerson. I have to line up a faculty supervisor so keep your fingers crossed for me! It's late in the game (application deadline is Tuesday!!!!) but I've been so busy with life stuff I couldn't give the proposal any attention until now. I hope the professor I messaged doesn't write me off as a completely disorganized procrastinator (which I occasionally am).
Lots of stuff on the horizon! I just found out classes don't start until the 27th (!!!!!!) so I have another week stretching ahead of me and I foresee many beach visits for myself.
Love you! Here are pics from Glenelg:
