I lied, here's a photo

How cute is Eliza???? She rainbow-ordered our teas while waiting for the kettle to boil this morning. I'm going to miss that little darling!

Cairns Thwarted........................

...................But only for one day!!!

Boooo, this morning I was quite livid and disappointed after hearing that my flight today was cancelled. Luckily I only got as far as the bus stop across the road but I was still utterly devastated! I'm booked on the flight for tomorrow and I'll still make it to the rainforest and great barrier reef day trips that I have booked. It's sad to miss out on a whole day of sun, fun and beachiness but c'est la vie. It's also given me the kick in the butt to get a bit more headway done on my final paper. It's environmental law, super dry and 3000 words. At this point, I'm so written out I can't fathom writing even 500 more words but the research has definitely been enlightening.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaand I finalized my travel details for Sydney next Monday (ONE MORE WEEK EEEEEEK!) and have a cheap hotel room near the airport so I can get a good night sleep before my epic journey Tuesday. Aaaaaaaaaaaand it came with a $50 "beverage" and food credit. Are you thinking what I'm thinking? Margarita Mondaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay.........by myself..........in a hotel room.............about to embark on a 20 hour flight.........................hmmmmmm, may rethink that one.
Anywho, I promise I have lots of pictures to show you, I'm just too lazy to unpack my camera from the deep crevasses of my 'Cairns' bag to share them with you.
I love you guys!

Kidnapped

So yesterday I came home from a yoga/brunch date with a new friend Dana, only to find myself kidnapped and driven away on a crazy road trip by Julien and Eliza! They took me on an amazing adventure, refusing to tell me the next stop anywhere along the way, it was so fun!! First off we hit the "whispering wall" which is a huge reservoir just outside of Adelaide. After it was built, people realized if you were standing on one side of the dam your voice could carry all the way across to the other side. Seriously, you can literally whisper words across 100+ feet of space and the people on the other side hear it as though you were standing right next to them! How crazy is that??

Next on the way was a HUGE rocking horse, likely the world's biggest because I honestly can't think of who else would want such an enormous wooden rocking horse. it brought to mind the Trojan War Horse, but way friendlier and more kid-friendly. There was a really cool sign with the names of major world cities on it, with distance and direction indicated. Vancouver was there but no Toronto that we saw. In case youre wondering, Vancouver is over 14,000 km from Adelaide......

There was also a petting zoo with these HUGE alpacas, they looked like enormous poodles! There were adorable wallabies, some larger kangaroos and some really scary sheep that wouldn't leave us alone and would scare off all the other animals so they could eat all the food we were offering. They were so mean and kept fighting each other and literally rubbing up against us trying to get at the bag of animal food. The best part was probably the parrot that said 'hello' and 'wanna cracker' in an aussie accent!

We hit an enormous chocolate factory where I overindulged in free samples and marshmallow bananas (my favorite!) and then we arrived in our final destination: Hahndorf, which is a tiny German town outside of Adelaide in the hills. It's SOOO quaint and adorable, very touristy and picturesque and we poked around a couple stores before they closed (because as you should know by now, 5pm on a Saturday is the last chance for ANY purchases/groceries/conveniences). Maddie and Aaron met us for dinner there and the rest of the night was spent in a food coma, watching movies and going to bed early.

twilight

I must say, this has to be my most favourite time of the day, as far as skies go. The gradients of color are SO magical and beautiful and it's as though a dark sheet is being pulled across the sky, tucking the world in for bedtime and darkness. Haha, not trying to be so artsy fartsy but seeeeeeeeriously, I am obsessed! This was taken on my walk home, which takes me along a walking path between a busy road and a quiet park.
Love you guys!

Exciiiiiiiiiiiting

Hi everybody!
I just booked my trip to Cairns to see the Great Barrier Reef!!! I'm so exciiiiiiiiited! It's all come together extremely nicely, including a work schedule that has me conveniently working only one day! Beach and reef time indeed! I'm leaving on June 11th and coming back to Adelaide on June 16th, just a quick visit to see one of nature's most beautiful things! Totally worth it! The next few weeks are going to be HECTIC, I have 3 papers due by June 16th, 2 of them due next Friday eek! I'm still in holiday mindset and planning a vacation certainly doesn't help to get me motivated for schoolwork! But, a lot of my classes finished this week so other than a couple tutorials, I have tons of free time to finish all these daunting assignments and pack up my Adelaide life (it went by so fast!). Aaaaaaaaaaand my friend Ruby (who you may remember from the amazing Easter weekend we spent together) is coming down again before I leave, June 9th, so yaaaaaaay! I must go, I'm going to try and post as much as humanly possible but I hope you understand why it's not top priority at the moment. After all, in a couple weeks time I'll be within phoning, visiting, WALKING (in some cases) distance from all of you and cant wait to share all the photos with youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!
Love love love you!

Emotional Mondays

Hi all!
Some exciting news: I will be back in Canada as of late June 19th........crazy!! I have some bad news too: I don't have access to the pictures from henry's visit anymore. Luckily henry has them on his computer but before I knew that I was THISCLOSE to tears! So, unfortunately no more photo updates for you guys but I can still share all the pics I'll be taking in adelaide, don't fear! And my new vow is to take a photo every single day I'm here (only 22, shoudl be easy lol). Well, one is a minimum, I know I'll be taking more than that.
Anywho, I'm on my way to a yoga class so I'll let you darlings go. I love you!

Rest of Sydney (bear with me folks)

Henry and I filled a whole memory card (4GB) so it will be a bit of a process going through them all and the real time consumer is uploading them to the blog so it will be piece by piece. It's been a good Saturday, albeit an early start, a day full of work and I got to train some freshly squeezed lemons (new hires) which is always extremely fun. Haha! Who am I kidding, it was my first time training but I loved it. Now I'm home, about to indulge in an experimental casserole with some pretty random ingredients along with a glass of wine. Tonight is party time, tomorrow is a day full of nothing except lingering homework assignments so tonight is my last chance to let some steam off.
Love you all!
